Samson

What starts as a simple lunch between exes turns into a fight for their lives when Emma and Dale are kidnapped by two masked men. Told through a fractured timeline & multiple perspectives, SAMSON is a modern-day Shakespearean tragedy with a musical number for good measure. Full of surprising twists and turns, as it becomes darker and darker, SAMSON is not a movie you’ll soon forget.

Samson, opens with a Tarantino-esque diner scene, where we join Emma (Lee) and Dale (Dance) mid-conversation in an awkward moment that immediately throws us into the worlds largest car boot/trunk, and a whirlwind of action, and the unexpected mix of comedy, romance, thriller, and drama, it’s clear from the start that Samson isn’t afraid to play with genres.......you're definitely getting your money's worth here.

The film’s seemingly random start makes sense as the story unfolds, brilliantly transitioning between genres and presented from a non-linear, multi-character perspective. The addition of a musical number, while unexpected, adds to the unpredictable charm of the film. And honestly, why not?

As the story progresses, the randomness gives way to answers to the key questions: Who? Why? Where? When? And, most intriguingly, who the heck is Samson? All is revealed in a non-linear fashion, with epic twists that keep you engaged.

The chemistry between Lee and Dance creates a believable, compelling relationship, while Brittain and Garcia-Sanchez deliver excellent performances as the two kidnappers, adding depth and plenty of humour to the creative plot.

Samson is a bonkers movie with very clever storytelling, which keeps it from becoming something far less interesting. If you're a fan of unpredictable narratives and genre-blending films, Samson comes highly recommended.
